After 15 years of working as a carpenter, I kept encountering the same problem with my 6'-6" and larger Spirit Levels: Security, storage and transportation. These are among the most important, sensitive, and expensive of my tools.

The only place on a standard pick-up truck large enough to accommodate these awkwardly long tools is the truck bed. The problems with this location are many: Even in padded carrying cases, these delicate measuring devices are susceptible to damage and theft. Stashed tools at the work-site also leaves them vulnerable to damage and loss. Like many Tradesmen, I began to leave my longest levels at home unless I absolutely needed them, and as a result, I frequently found myself without the tool I couldn't do without. The only available solutions were variations of PVC pipe storage systems/conduit carriers pipe clamped or U-bolted to truck lumber racks. I found out the hard way that any thief with a pair of pliers, screwdriver or hand saw could be the proud new owner of my $500 6-level Stabila set.

It is because of these frustrations that I created LEVELGUARD.
